Titusville – Suspect Arrested for Attempted Murder and Arson

Titusville Police have arrested a 60-year-old man for attempted first-degree murder and arson.

Barrett Antoine Bickers, 60, of Cocoa, was charged with Attempted First Degree Premediated Murder, Arson to a Structure or Vehicle and Intentional or Reckless Burning of Lands.

At approximately 10:30 PM on Friday October 4th 2019, the Titusville Police Department and the Titusville Fire Department responded at a report of a fire in a wooded area near the 4200 block of Hopkins Avenue.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a fire engulfed a campsite where a victim was sleeping. The victim was able to escape just as flames reached his dwelling.  

Witness statements revealed that the campsite fire was intentional set by the suspect. 

Investigative leads helped detectives identify the suspect, who was located on Tuesday morning, October 8th 2019, and taken into custody without incident.

The victim was not injured. 

Bickers was booked into the Brevard County Jail and is being held without bond.
